Pre-School 3-4 yrs

This preschool classroom is a much greater step from the toddlers room in the what the children learn. The children will continue to develop their language, social and emotional, cognitive and fine motor skills. Let us look at the typical activities that your child will undertake, keeping in mind that the routine is flexible.

Your child will have group time, outdoor play, and free play. We also encourage your child to have a rest.

A typical day may include learning a letter of the alphabet and then trying to name as many words as possible that begin with that letter. They may learn the days of the weeks, counting backwards, learning the seasons, and learning about opposites. The children are encouraged to develop socially and emotionally. We often play musical chairs or enjoy singing the song of the day. The children learn cognitively by understanding the concept of numbers, sorting things into groups, and increasing their memories and trying to solve problems. Gross motor skills include hopping, skipping, riding around and they also learn to master these skills which always makes them feel confident in themselves. The children also develop their fine motor skills by drawing people and creating well thought out artworks using different mediums such as glitter. In order to record what your child learns, your child will have an individual portfolio with photos and samples of what they have done.
